Fifty-one training batches on TB, DOTS and PDI were conducted in 3 Philippine TIPS sites (Cavite, Cebu City, and Iloilo City) from October 2 to 20, 2005. A total of 1,442 participants representing 406 pharmacies attended the trainings. Majority (65%) of the participants were pharmacy assistants, 15% were pharmacists, 14% were management staff (including pharmacy owners), and 6% were participants sent by the PDI stakeholders (DOTS Clinic Administrators, others).
Ten-item pre and post-test exercises were given to the participants to assess the effectivity of the training. Test results show a significant increase in knowledge scores after the training, with the average pre-test score at 5.9 and the average post-test score at 7.7.
Evaluation of the training by the participants was very high with an average evaluation score of 3.6 (from a range of 1 to 4, 4 being the highest).
